Rebar is bought by the ton, and offcuts go to scrap at a fraction of the price. On a bar bending schedule with dozens of items, manual nesting typically wastes 5–10% — the optimizer cuts that to the minimum in seconds.

How it works

Enter your stock lengths (typically 6 m and 12 m bars) and the required cut lengths from the schedule. The tool combines cuts across bars to minimize waste and produces a ready shop drawing — bar by bar, with the remnant of each.

Blade kerf

An abrasive saw eats 2–3 mm per cut. Fifteen cuts on one bar is up to 45 mm — seemingly nothing, yet exactly enough for the last piece not to fit. The “Kerf” field accounts for this automatically. For hydraulic shears, set 0.

Usable remnants

Set “Min remnant” (say 300 mm) and the calculator will flag which offcuts are worth returning to stock for stirrups and ties instead of scrapping.

What are standard rebar lengths?

Most commonly 6 m and 12 m in Europe; small diameters also come in coils. The calculator accepts any lengths — including leftovers from previous jobs.

How much material does it actually save?

It depends on the schedule, but on typical rebar lists the gap between manual and optimized nesting is on the order of 3–8% of total tonnage.
