How it works

Enter your stock lengths (typically 6 m and 12 m) and the items from the spec. The tool combines cuts across bars with minimal waste and produces a ready plan for the bandsaw — bar by bar, with each bar's remnant.

Waste priced in money

Enter a price per meter and the calculator shows the value of the material, the used portion and the waste. Scrap stops being a percentage on screen and becomes a line in the quote.

Kerf and usable remnants

A bandsaw takes 1.5–2 mm per cut, an abrasive saw 2–3 mm — the “Kerf” field accounts for it on every cut. “Min remnant” separates pieces good for stiffeners, plates and flanges from the scrap pile.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work for IPE, HEA and channels?

Yes — anything cut to length: hot-rolled beams, cold-formed hollow sections, angles, flats, round and rectangular tube. To the tool, every item is a length.

What are standard stock lengths?

Most commonly 6 m and 12 m; wholesalers also cut agreed fixed lengths. The calculator accepts any — including remnants from previous jobs.

How much does it actually save?

On a typical fabrication spec, the gap between manual and optimized nesting is on the order of 3–8% of tonnage — at steel prices, that pays back on the first order.
